PLAY SYNOPSIS

“Cripple Billy” Claven dreams of a better life away from the desolate landscape of 1930’s Inishmaan. Living with two eccentric aunts, and lusting after a local girl with violent tendencies, he spends his long days reading books and staring at cows until the local gossip monger brings news that may offer the chance of escape which Billy so desperately longs for. But in his single-minded objective to rise above his circumstances, Billy sets in motion a chain of events which far from improving his lot may actually lead to further alienation within the community.
